First Half (40 min)

Brahms: Piano Trio No. 1 in B major, Op. 8

Born in 1854 from a fierce, unfulfilled love, this work pours the 20-year-old Brahms’s admiration, passion, and anguish for Clara Schumann into music. Revised in 1891 by the mature Brahms, its emotional core burns more purely and deeply with time. Three instruments in intense, densely woven dialogue — a youthful diary of love and longing written in notes.

Second Half (55 min)

Tchaikovsky: Piano Trio in A minor, Op. 50

Tchaikovsky’s only piano trio, written in 1882 as a tribute to the suddenly-departed pianist Nikolai Rubinstein, subtitled “In Memory of a Great Artist.” Two movements of symphonic dramatic power: a deep lament followed by a vast Theme and Variations — twelve contrasting portraits of the departed — before the music fades in a heavy funeral march.

Born 2004 · Master candidate, Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin (Prof. Kirill Gerstein)

Graduated with a perfect score from Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover (Prof. Alexander Schimpf). 2025 Bach Leipzig semi-finalist (top 9); 2024 Verbier Festival Tabor Foundation Prize; 2022 Gustav Mahler Piano Competition First Prize; 2022 Geneva International Competition semi-finalist.

Tang Yunhe — Violin

Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg · Prof. Christoph Schickedanz

Holds a Philipp Augustin instrument sponsored by the Hamburg Instrument Foundation. 2023 Saar International Violin Competition Third Prize & Best Single Work Prize; 2025 Elise Meyer Stiftung First Prize. Upcoming performances with Hamburg Symphony Orchestra and Liangshan Symphony Orchestra.

Xie Tingyu — Cello

Affiliated Middle School, Sichuan Conservatory of Music · Teacher Zhang Fan

Selected at age 13 for Morningside Music Bridge (full scholarship). First prizes at international cello competitions in London, Hong Kong, and France. Performed in Boston, Seoul, Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Chengdu.
